Jury statement
The second prize was awarded to Petra Malá. Her large-format black
and white photographs look almost surreal. They are born in a very
intimate space and open up an insight into the remotest realms of the
human soul. The artist draws inspiration from her own childhood. Her
memoires are reconstructed from an adult perspective and thus placed
in the context of her current life. The poetry of childhood, virginity and
innocence are expressed in the sad faces of the children she portrays.
